Short Bio

Kristina Vanous, a local Puget Sound artist, was born in Oak Harbor, Washington in 1979. Having grown up in a military family, she spent much of her childhood moving around to various islands. From the tender age of 4, she began to develop a taste for the arts - exploring both the visual and musical sides.

Kristina plays nine instruments (piano/harpsichord, flute, piccolo, French horn, trumpet, coronet, guitar, aux percussion) and sings. She has sung and played with various bands all over the Puget Sound, including shows at El Corazon, The Crocodile, Neumos, The Showbox, The High Dive, and Fenders. To say she loves music is an understatement.

With the push from family-members to do something "practical" with her talents, she earned a degree in Graphic Design through a co-op between Highline CC and Ivey Seright in Seattle. After her son was born, she went back to school to receive her Associates in Interior Design. In addition, she studied under Hans Norland at the Tacoma Academy of Fine Art in Tacoma, on full-sponsorship, for contemporary realism. Kristina Vanous has been a professional designer for the past decade under the alias of various corporate employers, designing for companies such as G.I.Java, Forza, Foxhollow, Crown Cafe, and more. She has only very recently decided to come out of her personal shadows and realize her childhood dreams: to make herself -and her arts (both visual and musical sides)- known to the community.
